Join Somerset County on March 19, 2021 for the County’s celebration of National Agriculture Day, as we go Hog-Wild for Agriculture! Each year, Somerset County celebrates the rich history of agriculture by educating the public about some of the more popular topics in local farming. While this year’s Ag Day may be virtual- it is filled with activities for all ages! This year we are celebrating female farmers in the agricultural community and their influential roles throughout history.
Kick off the day by Scrolling through Agriculture with the launching of the Somerset County Farmland Preservation StoryMap. Virtually visit picturesque preserved farms around the County from the safety of your home, learn about our rich history, and meet some of the furry friends that call these fields home.
Not only will you have the ability to visit local farms virtually, but the SCADB’s new online tool will allow you to locate farmers’ markets via their desktop and cell phone to better access locally grown fresh produce.
In addition, learn about how to Dig In and get your hands active in agriculture with a series of how-to planting videos hosted by Somerset County Agriculture Development Board member, Laura DePrado. Join her as we get creative with items found around the home, and discover the many benefits of gardening. Gardening is good for the skin and good for the soul!
