Repair of County Bridge No. H0812, Thompson Avenue (CR 525) over Middle Brook, Township of Bridgewater
Somerset County Bridge No. H0812 on Thompson Avenue (CR 525), located just south of the intersection with Chimney Rock Road (CR 525), will be fully closed to through traffic for bridge repairs. The existing bridge will have various structural components repaired and rehabilitated. A detour route has been established using Chimney Rock Road, US Route 22, and Thompson Avenue. Construction is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 7, 2019, weather permitting. Full road closure and detour is expected for approximately 7 weeks duration. Local businesses on Thompson Avenue will remain fully accessible from the south (Rt 22).
[update 10-7-2019]: Thompson Avenue (CR525) was closed at Bridge H0812 on Monday, October 7, 2019 for the start of bridge repair work.
The purpose of this project is to restore the structural capacity of the bridge through rehabilitation of the existing substructure and superstructure. The project will include concrete deck spall repairs, concrete diaphragm repairs and repairs to the concrete bridge seat at the abutments. Additionally, the south approach guide rail will be upgraded and a new asphalt riding surface will be installed.
This project is funded through County Capital for 2019 as part of a 3 bridge repair package (Contract #19006) which also includes rehabilitation work at Bridge D0105 Great Road (CR 601) and E0304 Harlingen Road, both in Montgomery.
