The Project Location Map with Detour Route can be viewed here.
The existing Dead River Road/Acken Road bridges consists of four (4) short span structures consisting of a combination of concrete slab culvert bridges and corrugated metal and reinforced concrete pipes. The existing structures are generally in poor condition and functionally obsolete. Traffic studies performed in 2009 show an average daily traffic of slightly over 1,600 vehicles.
The project includes the replacement of the four (4) existing culverts with new precast concrete pipes or precast concrete box culverts, construction of new concrete wingwalls at each culvert, full depth roadway reconstruction, milling and resurfacing of the existing roadway, installation of beam guide rail, and other associated improvements. Roadway width throughout this stretch of Dead River/Acken Road will remain unchanged.
This construction project is funded using County Funds.
This County project has been coordinated with Warren Township’s roadway project along Dead River Road, and final paving operations will be run continuous from Mountainview Road to the municipal border at Bernards Township.
