Reconstruction of Washington Valley Road (County Route 616) from Chimney Rock Road (CR 525) to 700’ east of Eastbrook Road, Bridgewater Township, Somerset County
(12-20-18) Contractor has stopped work for the holiday season and plans to return to the work site the week of January 7, 2019, weather permitting. The work planned during the winter months is the installation of storm sewer inlets, in the road, throughout the project area. The road will remain open with one-lane closures from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. It is anticipated that major work will begin on April 1, 2019 and that the road will be closed on or about that date, notices will be posted at that time.

This project consists of the construction of approximately 1.3 miles of roadway reconstruction and associated drainage work. Curbs are to be installed along both sides of the roadway. The proposed roadway width is 30’ to provide for two lanes, each 11’ wide, and two paved shoulders; each 4’ wide. The roadway will widen to 38’ wide at the intersection of Vosseller Avenue for the addition of a left turn lane. Minor curbline changes and a new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Chimney Rock Road to replace the substandard signal that now exists. This new signal will have the ability to be actuated by vehicles sitting in the turning lanes and have pedestrian crossing signals installed.
