An Introduction to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
 
Join the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission in welcoming Jennifer Perry, Access Specialist, of the Northeast ADA Center at Cornell University on October 23rd, 2019.  This presentation will introduce attendees to the ADA and review the various Titles of the law, as well as discuss who the ADA protects and who enforces the law. Common questions that the Northeast ADA Center receives regarding older buildings will also be discussed. Finally, ADA requirements that make arts and cultural programs more accessible to patrons with disabilities will be reviewed.

This seminar will cover:

  • What the Americans with Disabilities Act is

  • The Awareness Model

  • Who it effects

  • Who enforces it

  • Hot topics

  • Where/when it applies

  • Obligations for existing buildings

  • Title 2 program access

  • Services animals

  • Website accessibility
