NJ History Partnership Program Grant
The County History Partnership Program was created in 2015 by the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) to extend the administration of local re-granting programs to all of the state’s 21 counties. This program enables the NJHC to support existing and emerging local history organizations, and other eligible non-profit organizations providing history projects, programs, services to benefit diverse public audiences.
The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission (SCC&HC), as originally designated by resolution of the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholder with the responsibility of educating and enriching the lives of County residents by providing programs and services that preserve, promote and protect the cultural and heritage of Somerset County, inclusive of fostering the preservation, understanding, and enjoyment of local and state history, is the officially designated agency in Somerset County to apply for and receive grant funds from the NJHC for this program. Through an annual grant award to the SCC&HC, a countywide history re-grant program will be established to benefit local history organizations, as well as other organizations ( units of local government, libraries, and schools that meet the NJHC priorities and eligibility criteria) seeking organizational support, as well as support for history programming and services.
Annual grant funding to eligible Somerset County-based organizations, for programs and services offered in Somerset County will be awarded through a formal competitive grant application/independent peer review panel process. The recommendations of the independent panel will be formally presented to SCC&H Commissioners for final full board action/approval.
