World No Tobacco Day!
Every year, May 31st is designated World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) by the World Health Organization to raise awareness and highlight the health consequences associated with tobacco use and encourage governments to adopt effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) kill more people than any other cause of death worldwide, and tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure contribute to approximately 12% of all heart disease deaths. Tobacco use is the second leading cause of CVD, after high blood pressure.
