Tri-County Substance Use Navigator (SUN) Program (Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren)

The Substance Use Navigator (SUN) Program is a statewide initiative funded by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families.  Substance Use Navigators are community specialists knowledgeable in substance use resources available within the NJ Children’s System of Care (CSOC) and the county.   Substance Use Navigators assist in furthering access to substance use treatment for youth and young adults.  Although Substance Use Navigators do not provide direct services to youth or their families, Substance Use Navigators serve as a community resource for system partners.  Substance Use Navigators provide the following services:

  • Identify community needs, barriers and gaps related to substance use services and resources
  • Provide consultation and referrals to community partners working with youth and young adults experiencing substance use challenges
  • Provide trainings and workshops to the community and system partners to better help with screening, assessing, identifying and recognizing indicators of substance use among youth and young adults as well as accessing the appropriate services

For more information or to schedule a training or workshop contact one of your Tri-County Substance Use Navigators serving Somerset County, Michael Calderon, or Carolyn Reynolds.
