QAL, the Question & Answer Line, was established in 2014 by Juvenile Institutional Services in cooperation with the Office of Youth Services and the County Council for Juvenile Justice System Improvement. It is a resource line for youth and their families who have had police and/or court contact to call in order to receive information and referrals to local services such as substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, individual counseling, and family counseling, and to assist families with navigating the various youth systems (school, courts and children’s behavioral health). Youth and parents can access this line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All calls and e-mails will be returned within 24 hours. All calls are confidential and there is no cost or fee to the youth or family for this service.
