Naturalization Records dated from 1830 through 1988 are retained at the County Clerk's Office. Our staff can research these records for you and provide you with a photocopy of the petition and a certified letter from the Clerk if you wish. These records are Petitions of Intent for Naturalization. Certificates of Naturalization are not kept at the Clerk's Office; they are filed at the US Department of Justice in Newark (contact information is below). You may request this information via telephone, fax, written request or email. Please include the name of the person you are requesting (include other possible names and spellings for that person) as well as a date of birth and the approximate date of Naturalization.  There is no fee for this service. It is provided compliments of the County Clerk.
