BOBO Fridays Food Drive Continues Feb. 19

Throughout the Year Residents Can Help Neighbors by Donating

Post Date:02/19/2021 8:55 AM

SOMERVILLE, NJ – “Buy One, Bring One” (BOBO) Fridays continues Feb. 19 and throughout the year. Just buy one extra can of food when grocery shopping and bring one can or more to the county’s Administration Building, located at 20 Grove St., Somerville, NJ on non-holiday weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Place donations in the blue bins that are located in the breezeway of the Administration Building.

“You can easily help put food on the tables of your neighbors in need,” said Somerset County Commissioner Melonie Marano. “Folks have been struggling during this pandemic. If you pick up just one additional can of food when shopping or you have an extra can in your pantry just drop it off at our building. It can really help a family get through a difficult time.”

If traveling to the county Administration Building is inconvenient, residents can place a donation of non-perishable food items in a plastic bag, write “FOOD” on the bag with a permanent marker, and leave it out with their regular curbside recycling.

The Somerset County Recycling Division transports donations to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and items are then distributed to clients of the Food Bank Network and other local food banks.  Since 2010, BOBO Fridays has received more than 45 tons of donations.
