Trauma Informed Care Workshop - Oct. 20
SOMERVILLE – Because it is important to understand the lifelong impact childhood trauma can have, parents, guardians and professionals who work with children and families are invited to a Somerset County Youth Service’s workshop, titled “An Overview of Trauma Informed Care” on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
“Before we can really help those affected by childhood trauma, we need to better understand the impact it can have over an individual’s lifespan,” said Freeholder Brian D. Levine, human services liaison. “This workshop is intended to help us accomplish that.”
The free presentation will be conducted by Tracey L. Heisler, representing Resilient Youth of Somerset County, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will learn about developmental trauma, how it can change children’s brains, the challenges faced by traumatized children and adults, and strategies that will help individuals who have been traumatized.
To register, contact Gretchen Craig at email@example.com. Participants will receive a link and login information prior to the workshop. Professional development credits will be available.
This program is sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the county Youth Services Commission and Resilient Youth of Somerset County.
