Grant Funding Available for Eligible Nonprofits Offering History Programs
Deadline for Submissions Is Oct. 20
SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission is accepting grant applications for the County History Partnership Program (CHPP) grant. Grants are funded by the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) to help support both existing and emerging local history organizations that serve the public.
Grants will be awarded to local entities such as historic societies, libraries, non-profit organizations, and municipalities that demonstrate excellence for providing New Jersey history programming, history-related services and the development of history education on a local level.
Funding is competitive and will be awarded to organizations that demonstrate managerial competency, fiscal stability, excellence in history programming and the organizational capacity to execute a proposed program or project. Some of the requirements for eligibility are:
- Funds may be awarded for New Jersey history programs and projects that are accessible to the general public or for general operating support in the 2021 calendar year.
- For general operating support, the organization’s mission must be solely history-dedicated.
Funding for this grant is contingent on funds made available to the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission by the NJHC in 2021. Match requirements have been waived for 2021.

CHPP grant applications are due by 4 p.m., Oct. 20, 2020. It is strongly recommended that organizations attend at least one of three free CHPP Grant Technical Assistance Zoom Workshops to occur on Sept. 15, 2020, at 2 p.m., Sept. 17, 5 p.m., and Sept. 23, 10 a.m. To register for a workshop, visit http://bit.ly/SCTechAsst.
