NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti announced an investigation into a residential fire on Grove Street, North Plainfield, New Jersey.

 Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at approximately 11:03 a.m. North Plainfield Fire Department and North Plainfield Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a residential fire on Grove Street, North Plainfield, New Jersey.  Two residents of the structure sustained injuries relating to the fire and were transported to an undisclosed trauma center.  The two residents injured are identified as two adult males with one listed in critical condition.  The fire was a three alarm fire.  Fire companies from Somerset (North Plainfield, Bridgewater/Finderne, Bound Brook, Green Brook, Watchung and Warren), Union (Plainfield), and Middlesex Counties (South Plainfield) responded to extinguish the residential fire.  Emergency Medical Personnel from North Plainfield, JFK Paramedics, Atlantic BLS, and Robert Wood Johnson also responded to the scene to render aid.

 Prosecutor Robertson stated that detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office along with North Plainfield Police, the Somerset County Fire Investigation Unit and Fire Officials from North Plainfield are on the scene to conduct the investigation.  Once the scene is determined safe by fire officials, Investigators will proceed to conduct the investigation in an attempt to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Information can also be provided through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers’ Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477). All anonymous STOPit reports and Crime Stopper tips will be kept confidential.
