Post Date:03/29/2020 9:47 AM

As the public healthcare crisis continues to impact the Somerset County community, job loss has become a harsh reality for many families. In response to this emergency, the executive leaders at Curbing Hunger, Inc., a community-based food bank program, have partnered with Amp Your Good to launch an emergency online food drive.

“Nutritious food is vital for maintaining one’s health and wellbeing,” said Somerset County Freeholder Director Shanel Y. Robinson. “While the county is taking the necessary efforts to contain the coronavirus, we are concerned that it will be difficult for families to make ends meet and get healthy food on the table. Curbing Hunger and The Somerset County Food Bank Network are available to help.”

“Please support your neighbors who are being impacted by this pandemic,” said Curbing Hunger, Inc. President Chuck Knill.  “Your donations will help ensure that low-income and vulnerable populations have access to nutritious food.”

Donating online is simple just click here to purchase food. Goods will be delivered directly to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and shared with other food banks and pantries in the area.

While adhering to guidelines mandated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), The Food Bank Network of Somerset County will continue to distribute food and other basic items to help meet the needs of those less fortunate during the COVID-19 crisis.

The food bank is located at 9 Easy St., Bound Brook (off of Chimney Rock Road, near the UPS facility), and is open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. For more information, call 732-560-1813 or click here to visit the website . Click here to visit the food bank’s Facebook.
