Senior Wellness Center to Offer Free Fall-Prevention Workshop
A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls
HILLSBOROUGH – Freeholder Shanel Y. Robinson invites residents to attend a free eight-week fall-prevention workshop to be held on Mondays from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m., beginning July 8 and continuing July 15, 22, 29 through Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26, at the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center at Hillsborough located at 339 South Branch Road. Pre-registration is required by Monday, July 1.
The “Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls” workshop is designed to help participants manage their fear of falling. Participants will learn coping methods through group discussions, and informative videos, along with problem-solving techniques, strategies to create a safer living environment and gentle exercises will be taught to help increase participants’ strength and balance. Although the workshop has an optional and easy exercise segment, this is not an exercise class.
This workshop will help participants feel confident, strong and better able to continue their daily activities safely. Materials and light refreshments will be provided.

The Somerset County Senior Wellness Center at Hillsborough is operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services. The multi-purpose facility offers the opportunity for social engagement, free health screenings, exciting events, and interesting activities for anyone age 60 and above.
