Local Arts Program Grant Workshops July 16
Somerset County Freeholder Brian G. Gallagher has announced that the county Cultural & Heritage Commission is accepting grant applications for the 2020 Local Arts Program Grant. Guidelines and application forms can be found here. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 12, 2019.
Two free technical-assistance grant-writing workshops, geared specifically to this LAP grant to familiarize and assist potential applicants with the application process, will be offered Tuesday, July 16, from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. for those who cannot attend the earlier session. Pre-registration is required at least one day prior to the scheduled session.
Click here to register for one of the workshops. All applicants are strongly advised to attend one session. Both workshops will be held in the second-floor engineering conference room in the Somerset County Administration Building, 20 Grove St., Somerville. The workshop location and free parking – in the attached Bernie Field Parking Deck off East High Street directly behind the building – are ADA accessible.
Designated as the official county agency to administer the New Jersey State Council on the Arts State/County LAP grant for Somerset County, the Cultural & Heritage Commission welcomes applications from Somerset County-based nonprofit arts organizations, libraries, municipalities and other nonprofit organizations in Somerset County. Funding is competitive and organizations must demonstrate managerial competency, fiscal stability, excellence in arts programming and the organizational capacity to execute the proposed program or project.
Grant funding may be requested for arts programs or series, for creative placemaking projects that are accessible to the general public, or for general operating support for the 2020 calendar year. An organization may request funding for general operating support if its mission is solely arts-dedicated.
Applicants are required to provide a match for funding requested. Special project and creative placemaking grant support may include documented, in-kind support as a portion of the match if an all-cash contribution is not possible.
Grant applications must be received by 4 p.m. Monday, Aug.12. Applications may be mailed or dropped off to the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission office at 20 Grove St., Second Floor, Somerville, NJ 08876. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
