Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter reminds voters that they can apply for a mail-in ballot for the June 4 primary election.

In addition to regular weekday hours of 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., his office will have extended hours to accommodate those who want to pick up a ballot in person: Wednesday, May 22, and Wednesday, May 29, until 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Applications for mail-in ballots are available online or at the County Clerk’s Office, located in the lobby of the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St., Somerville.

Voters who would like a ballot mailed to them must apply by Tuesday, May 28. Voters, or their authorized messenger, may visit the County Clerk’s Office during office hours up until 3 p.m. on Monday, June 3, to fill out an application and receive a mail-in ballot on the spot. State law limits messengers to three voters per election.

Voted mail-in ballots can be mailed to the Somerset County Election Board, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876. Ballots also can be dropped off at the Board of Elections, located next to the County Clerk’s Office in the county Administration Building.

Mail-in ballots can be returned in person until the polls close at 8 p.m. on election night
. Ballots that are postmarked by Election Day and received by the Election Board within 48 hours after the polls close also will be accepted.
