Senior Wellness Center at Basking Ridge to Host Annual Expo
Celebrate Older Americans Month
BASKING RIDGE – Somerset County Freeholder Shanel Y. Robinson invites residents age 60 and above and their caregivers, to visit the annual Senior Expo event at the Senior Wellness Center at Basking Ridge located at 202 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, on Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required by Monday, April 22.
In honor of Older Americans Month’s 2019 theme, “Connect, Create, Contribute,” which encourages seniors to stay connected, interested and involved in activities that will enrich their physical and emotional wellbeing; the expo will support this theme by offering free giveaways, health screenings, and education. The following programs are scheduled:
- 11 a.m. – “Activate Your Brain: Strategies to Maintaining Brain Health,” by speaker Dr. Michelle Papka, founder, and director of The Cognitive Research Center of New Jersey.
- 1 p.m. – “Savvy Surfing Seniors: Practical Computer Tips for Seniors,” by speaker Elder Law Attorney Gary Cornick.
Lunch will be offered, which includes your choice of a quinoa salad with a grilled chicken sandwich, or a veggie sandwich with a quinoa salad. For lunch, there is a suggested donation of $2.50 for participants age 60 and above and an $8 cost for anyone under age 60. A reservation for lunch is required by April 22.

Somerset County Senior Wellness Center at Basking Ridge is operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services. The multi-purpose facility provides an opportunity for social engagement, free health screenings, exciting events, and interesting activities.
Somerset County-operated senior centers offer a wide range of experiences for active older adults in a social and uplifting atmosphere intended to positively impact the overall health of seniors. Members can participate in a variety of programs and activities.
