Two men charged in attempted murder

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, Franklin Township Chief of Police Richard Grammar, Bound Brook Borough Chief of Police Vito Bet, Manville Borough Chief of Police Mark Peltack announced the arrest of Dyshawn O. Williams, age 23 and Sekuann D. Copeland, age 22, of Talmadge Avenue, Bound Brook, New Jersey.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on September 12, 2018, a 9-1-1 call was received reporting shots fired in the area of Franklin Boulevard in Franklin Township. Upon arrival in the area of Franklin Blvd., Franklin Township Police Department officers located a victim with a gunshot wound to his hip. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene units responded to the scene, along with detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department to conduct an investigation. The victim’s vehicle, which was located at the scene, was determined to have two bullet holes in it. The victim stated that he was driving when an SUV began to tailgate him and then pulled up alongside his vehicle. The front seat passenger of the SUV then began shooting at him. During the course of the investigation, Sekuann Copeland and Dyshawn Williams were identified as being present in the SUV at the time of the shooting.
On January 3, 2019, Dyshawn Williams was located with the assistance of detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department and placed under arrest without incident. On January 4, 2019, Sekuann Copeland was located with the assistance of the Manville Police Department and placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Williams was charged with 1st Degree Attempted Murder, 2nd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Defendant Williams was subsequently lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
