November 16, 2018 - NEWS RELEASE

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Bernards Township Chief of Police Michael Shimsky announced the arrest of Stefan F. Larbig, age 28 of Constitution Way, Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on October 25, 2018, at approximately 1:25 P.M., members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force, along with members of the Bernards Township Police Department were conducting an investigation into the distribution of narcotics by defendant Larbig in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township. On two separate occasions during the month of October 2018, an undercover officer purchased a quantity of narcotics from defendant Larbig at a residence on Constitution Way in Bernards Township. As a result of the approximately two-month long investigation, Task Force members obtained a Superior Court-issued search warrant for the residence on Constitution Way.

Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Task Force members and Bernards Township police officers executed the search warrant at defendant Larbig’s Constitution Way residence. Defendant Larbig was located outside the residence and placed under arrest without incident.

Defendant Larbig was found to be in possession of one hundred eighteen (118) Xanax pills that were not prescribed to him and were packaged in a manner consistent with street sale. The subsequent search of the home yielded drug paraphernalia associated with drug activity. The Xanax pills seized have an estimated street value of one thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,800.00).

Defendant Larbig was charged with one count of 2nd degree Possession of CDS (Xanax) with Intent to Distribute and two counts of 3rd degree Distribution of CDS (Xanax). Defendant Larbig was issued a summons and released pending a first appearance court date.
