Sign Up for Emergency Alerts from Somerset County

Post Date:06/22/2018

As part of your household’s ongoing emergency preparedness, Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione encourages you and your family to sign up for free bulletins from Somerset County.

“It’s important to stay informed during severe-weather events,” he said, noting that hurricane season in New Jersey runs June 1 through Nov. 1. “In addition to our email and text alerts, our homepage will have links to the most up-to-date information. Our social media pages also are updated regularly.”

Alerts cover weather-related county road and bridge closings, recycling cancellations and delays, senior center closings and other program changes due to inclement weather.

On the county’s Nixle page, you can request email notifications, text alerts or both. The service is free, although cell phone carrier rates may apply to text alerts.

Click here to sign up. To get wireless alerts only, text SCNJALERTS to 888777. If you are already receiving emergency alerts from Somerset County, there is no need to re-register.

You can select non-emergency topics in the county’s free email service as well, including press releases, e-newsletters, recycling information, senior center news and more. Click here to subscribe.

Follow the county on Twitter and on Facebook.
