Corrections Officers Compete in Obstacle Race

Four Somerset County Corrections Officers competed in the Police Fitness & Nutrition and City Challenge Race “Battle of the Frontlines” held May 19 in Laurel Hill Parkin Secaucus, NJ.
“I am very proud of my Corrections staff for taking the initiative in working on their fitness and representing our organization,” Sheriff Frank J. Provenzano said. “The men were well prepared and wanted to put their hard work to the test. In the end, they were rewarded with top placings. Congratulations!”
The SCJ Warriors team was made up of Sgt. Gregory Quintero, Officer Napoleon Freeman, Officer Daniel Soffer and Officer Steven Bouziotis. Eighteen teams toed the starting line. The 1-mile race consisted of 10 obstacles: an intense start zone workout, 8-foot solid walls, 30-foot cargo net, Monkey Bars RIG, sandbag carry, cinder block carry, bear crawls, military tires and barricades.
The SCJ Warriors proudly took second place, in a close finish with Team “Run with Mike” taking first by 19 seconds.
