Message from the Somerset County Surrogate Frank G. Bruno

It is my great honor to serve the residents of Somerset County.  This position can impact many of the lives of residents in Somerset County.  My duties as Surrogate include the probate of wills, appointment of estate administrators, supervision over the appointment of guardians, and administration of adoptions. I also direct and supervise the Office of the Surrogate and its staff.  

Functions of the Surrogate’s Office

• Probate Wills

• Process adoptions

• Process contested probate matters

• Process alleged incompetents

• Film and record all probate proceedings

• Invest minors’ funds

• Appoint guardians of minors
