Call for NJ Artists
The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission is pleased to announce
Year Five of its
Public Art Project, Gallery 24/7: Art on Traffic
We welcome visual artists who reside in New
Jersey to create and submit original artwork for this year’s competition.
Through a competitive and professionally juried process, original art will be
selected and applied to the exterior of designated outdoor traffic-control
boxes (TCBs) within Somerset County.

Rock Ave., by Greenbrook Rd.
Notes: Residential neighborhood; TCB
fronts a private property. By installing some beautiful foliage,
garden scene, some birds and blossoms for example, this neighborhood
eye sore would “appear” to “disappear.”
||Town: Green Brook/North Plainfield
Ave. & Greenbrook Rd. (where Greenbrook Rd. makes a dog-leg diversion)
Notes: New TCB will be located in area where a nursing home sits back
off road, within an otherwise residential neighborhood.

Location: Mountain Ave. & Norwood/North Aves.
Residential neighborhood; New TCB will be located on the Norwood Ave.
side of Intersection; Across intersection: North Ave. side is a unique

Notes: Downtown Bound Brook commercial
New TCB will be located a little further left of old
existing one; this bldg. is next to a restaurant, same side as Bound
Brook Train Station on Main St; Proximity to railroad line and train
station could very well provide an interesting site-specific image for
the new and much larger TCB; across the intersection a little further
up Hamilton St. is the historic Brook Theatre.
PLEASE NOTE: If the judges feel strongly that an
entered/selected artwork will work well on an additional or substitute
Traffic Control Box, we reserve the right to make that
