2009 4-H Fair
The annual Somerset County 4-H Fair is less than a month away! It will be held Aug. 12-14 at the fairgrounds on Milltown Road in Bridgewater. Free shuttle buses will run daily from Raritan Valley Community College.

Summer Concerts
The county Park Commission is again offering free summer concerts at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater. The next one is Sunday, July 19. Bring along canned food donations to benefit the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

The Somerset County Library System is more than just books! There are free programs at many branches.

Saturday Recycling Drop-off
Residents are invited to drop off items at the Recycling Center in Bridgewater from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 1. Food donations also will be accepted to benefit local food banks.

The next Household Hazardous Waste drop-off will be held Aug. 1 at the Franklin Township Sewerage Authority.

School Supplies Needed
This year's "Project First Class" collection of new school supplies will benefit children of families served by the Food Bank Network of Somerset County. Donations are requested by July 22.

Applications are now available online. Technical-assistance workshops will be held July 22 and Aug. 18.

Disabled Advocate Awards
Somerset County wants to recognize the efforts of individuals, businesses and organizations that advocate, serve and include persons with disabilities. Deadline is Sept. 1.
