Curbing Hunger Month
Did you notice the orange bags tied to your recycling bucket? Please remove them, fill them with canned goods and put them at the curb on your next recycling pickup day. You can use regular grocery bags too. The demand at local food banks and food pantries continues to run high. Summertime is particularly difficult since school lunch programs are closed. Your donation can make a difference!

Free Paper-Shredding Event
Residents are invited to have personal documents shredded in Somerville on Saturday, June 26, rain or shine. Several other shredding events are planned in other towns later this year.

The deadline for individuals and businesses to register for federal disaster-recovery assistance has been extended to July 1.

Written Comments Due by July 2
The public is invited to review the 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan and the 2010 Annual Action Plan for CDBG and HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds. The last of four community meetings will be held this evening (June 24) in Somerville.

Recycling Calendar for July
Due to the Independence Day holiday, recycling will be collected in Bernards Township on Tuesday, July 6. The next drop-off day at the county Recycling Center has been moved to Saturday, July 10.

The Somerset County Office of Volunteer Services is seeking volunteers to help tutor county school children over the summer.

The Richard Hall Community Mental Health Center provides crisis counseling and ongoing treatment for Somerset County residents who have experienced a disaster-related trauma and for those who are struggling to cope with the recent economic downturn.
