Memorial Bridge Ceremony
The pedestrian bridge between Somerville and Bridgewater will be renamed in memory of SSG Andrew T. Lobosco, who was killed in Afghanistan last year. The public is invited to attend the Feb. 17 ceremony.

H1N1 Swine Flu
It’s still important to get an H1N1 flu shot. The H1N1 vaccine now is available to all, not just high-risk groups. Vaccination clinics are being offered in various Somerset County municipalities.

There is a public meeting tonight (Feb. 11) at the Franklin Township Library to discuss potential improvements to the Easton Avenue Corridor.

February Holiday Notes
Somerset County offices will be closed Friday, Feb. 12, for Lincoln’s Birthday; however, the Recycling Center will be open and recycling will be collected as scheduled that day. On Monday, Feb. 15, both the County and the Recycling Center will be closed for Presidents’ Day; recycling pickups have been rescheduled to Feb. 16 in Bernards Township.

A free, eight-week program for veterans, active military personnel and their significant others starts Feb. 16 in Somerville.

Requests to use the 30-seat community box at the TD Bank Ballpark are being accepted through Feb. 26. To be eligible, applicants must be nonprofits or community organizations that are located in Somerset County or that have a facility based in the county and serve county residents.

A Symposium on the Status of Women Around the World will be held March 3 at Raritan Valley Community College.

Recycling Drop-off
The next recycling drop-off for Somerset County residents will be held Saturday, March 6. Please also bring canned-food donations to benefit the Food Bank Network.

Volunteers are ready to help low- and moderate-income residents prepare their tax returns. This free service is by appointment only and will continue through April 15.
