Noise Pollution

The Somerset County Department of Health assists County residents with complaints concerning industrial and commercial operations that result in exceedances of the State Noise Code (N.J.A.C. 7:29). 

Please be aware that these regulations do not cover many local noise sources, such as activities by homeowners, barking dogs, or loud motor vehicles.  Each municipality has the option to adopt a Model Noise Code to address concerns specific to its residents.  To find out if your town has more stringent noise standards, contact your local health department.
