Pursuant to federal law and in conformance with the State’s voting process, Somerset County has one fully accessible voting machine in each election district for individuals with disabilities, including those with visual impairments.

Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS)

The “Help America Vote Act of 2002” (HAVA), requires each state, including New Jersey, to provide for a state-wide registration system whereby all the counties’ lists of registered voters are linked at the state level. The implementation date for state-wide registration is May 30, 2007.

Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)

Each direct recording electronic voting machine in New Jersey must have a voter-verifiable paper trail attachment no later than January 1, 2008 to allow a voter to verify his or her votes on a paper record before casting same. The paper records are to be the official record for purposes of any recount.

No Excuses Mail-in Ballot

In New Jersey, any voter can now vote by Mail-in Ballot for any election. You do NOT need a reason for an Mail-in Ballot.

21 Day Registration Deadline

Now you can register to vote up to 21 days prior to the next election.
