BIOGRAPHY
As Somerset County Clerk, Brett A. Radi
is responsible for a variety of services. These services include
recording land records and related legal documents that deal with land
situated in Somerset County, administering oaths to notaries public,
processing passport applications, and issuing veterans’ peddlers
licenses. He is also responsible for filing military discharges and
sub-division maps. Additionally, the County Clerk holds many election
responsibilities. These include receiving petitions, issuing Mail-In
ballots, tabulating elections returns, and issuing certificates of
election as well as designing sample ballots, machine ballots and
Mail-In ballots.
Brett A. Radi was elected to serve as Somerset
County Clerk in 2003 and re-elected in 2008 and again in 2013. Prior
to that, he served as Deputy County Clerk from 1993 through 2002 under
then County Clerk R Peter Widin. His government experience extends
back to 1988 when he served as Hillsborough Township Municipal Clerk,
a position he held through 1991. He then was appointed to serve as the
Hillsborough Township Administrator in 1992.
Brett has a long
history of public service. He was a member of the Hillsborough
Township Committee from 1995 thru 1998 serving as Deputy Mayor in 1996
and Mayor in 1997 & 1998. He was the Police Commissioner in 1995 and
served on the Hillsborough Township Planning Board in 1997-1998. He
served as the Hillsborough Township Committee Liaison to the Youth
Services Commission from 1995-1998 and the Cultural and Arts
Commission from 1997-1998. He currently is a member of the Somerset
County Improvement Authority.
Brett is also a former member of
the Hillsborough Township Postal Advisory, the Hillsborough Township
Project Graduation Committee, as well as a former Republican County
Committeeman for District 23 in Hillsborough. He is a past President
of the New Jersey Association of Counties, a member of the Municipal
Clerk’s Association of Somerset County, a member of the Constitutional
Officers Association of New Jersey, and an Associate member of the
Somerset County Federation of Republican Women.
Brett is a
lifelong Somerset County resident. He currently resides in Somerville
with his wife Kimberly and their two children. He holds a Bachelor’s
Degree in Political Science from Albright College and a Masters Degree
in Public Administration from Rutgers University.
