Air Quality

To ensure compliance with NJDEP air pollution regulations, CEHA inspectors conduct routine inspections of facilities throughout the County including, but not limited to, dry cleaners, gas stations, auto body shops and any site with combustion equipment that meets NJDEP’s criteria for a “minor source” contributor to air pollution.  This equipment includes certain large boilers, heaters and emergency generators.

CEHA inspectors also respond to citizen complaints of outdoor air pollution involving odors, open burning, dust pollution, and idling vehicles.  In 2005, through a new NJDEP initiative to reduce diesel emissions, CEHA inspectors have begun routine surveillance for idling diesel trucks.  For more information, visit NJDEP’s Stop The Soot webpage.
